I Love any possible chance to save money. I may not be a Fashionista but I look nice....I can turn a few heads still without having the top fashions and the credit card debt that goes along with it!
I work at a bank and have to look "professional". Funny how they do not pay you enough wages to allow you to dress in this so called "professional manner"!
I live in a small town so when it is time to go to the mall or any thrift store, I have to drive 45 minutes to get there. Usually anytime I go to the "Big City". I stop by my my favorite thrift stores. I always make time to go if I can. My husband despises this practice but I myself LOVE a bargain, even if it has been used.
98% of my closet is used clothing! When I was kid...OH HECKKK NO! But my momma always said "when you have to spend your own money you will understand" Boy was she right, yet again!
I can go to the mall and pay 30.00 on the plain black slacks that are my favorite brand that fit me best or I can go to the thrift store and spend 4.50.
In my mind, I am keeping 25.50 in my checking acct. The only downfall is, you cannot go right to the rack, find your size and KNOW they will fit. Thrift shopping is hit and miss!
For instance-the other day my mom and I had went to the big city and I stopped by a thrift store. I love "Gap" clothes but I will not buy them new. Reasoning-WAY OUT OF MY PRICE RANGE! I Love the way their clothes fit. My favorite pairs of jeans I have owned and still do are Gap and have been awesome ones and lasted a long time! I have had a few pairs but have not payed over 5.00 for them! I get my money worth with these! I have a booty on me and it is hard to find a good fitting pair of jeans when you have a round full hiney!....We stopped by that store and I was looking around and did not really see much. I thought I had looked everything over and I just happened to miss a rack of little boys clothes. I started looking through these clothes and found my little boy about 16 shirts barely worn for 2.00 a piece all GAP! I was so excited. Short sleeve, long sleeve, sleeveless and some were a size above him so he will have room to grow!.....For men it is shooting the trophy buck. For this little White trash mommy it is hitting jackpots like these!
Just like I don't share the silly obsession of hunting with my husband and don't get it....He does not share my "deal obsession" of saving a buck! Men truly are from mars and women from venus. What boils their blood does not always boil ours!
When he gripes about having to wait in the car while I run into a thrift store, I just remind him to be thankful he does not have a high maintenance wife with credit card debt to go with it. It shuts him up....TIL THE NEXT TIME!
